Abstract Submission Terms & Conditions


The following terms govern the submission of abstracts at the 36th International Geological Congress:

In submitting an abstract for consideration for the 36th International Geological Congress, the primary author is responsible for ensuring that work described in the abstract is conducted in accordance with the following rules and policies:

  1. The abstract should contain relevant data and meet international ethical standards.
  2. The abstract should not contain spelling, grammatical, or scientific mistakes, as the abstract will be reproduced exactly as submitted.
  3. The abstract should not promote any product or service.
  4. The abstract should not contain material that has been submitted/published elsewhere
  5. The abstract should not contain plagiarized content
  6. The abstract should have the agreement of all the concerned authors
  7. Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the concept, design, execution or interpretation of the work reported in the abstracts.
  8. Authors’ order and Presenting author once submitted cannot be changed.
  9. Fabricated data, results, selective reporting of data, theft of intellectual property of others are unacceptable. This will lead to immediate disqualification / rejection of the submission.
  10. The abstract should make no assumptions about the beliefs or commitments of any reader; should contain nothing which might imply that one individual is superior to another on the grounds of race, gender, culture or any other characteristic, and should use inclusive language throughout.
  11. Inclusion of any Table, Illustrations, Figures and References are not allowed as part of the Abstract Submission. 
  12. Abstract content is to be pasted in the designated box in the abstract submission form and the maximum word limit for the abstract is 250 words.

On occasions, the Organising Committee may solicit additional information from submitters to ensure that the work reported in an abstract complies with the points mentioned above.

Failure to reply satisfactorily to a request for additional information constitutes ground for rejection of abstract.

Presentation limits
No presentation may be given by an individual who is not an author of the abstract.

Author consent
Authors may not be listed on an abstract unless they have given their consent to the presenting author. All material must be the work of the authors listed.

Presentation agreement remuneration
Abstract submission implies an understanding that the authors will receive no remuneration from the 36th IGC for participation other than that specified in writing by the Society.

Permission for use of name and likeness
Authors give the 36th IGC, their agents and representatives the right to use their names and likeness in promotional and other material published in relation to the Congress.

Permission for publication of material
Authors grant the 36th IGC the copyright for publication of material they may provide for inclusion in the proceedings of the conference. The copyright consists of any and all rights allowed by the copyright laws in all countries.

Authors understand that the proceedings, including their contribution, will be made available in printed and/or electronic form to the attendees of the conference, members of the 36th IGC, and other interested parties pursuant to policies established by the 36th IGC Board.

Authors understand that the 36th IGC will hold the copyright for the proceedings and its contents.

Authors understand that the 36th IGC takes no responsibility for registering any copyright and advise authors to take all appropriate steps to do so.

Authors authorize the 36th IGC to sell or otherwise distribute said proceedings to the membership and general public. In return, Authors understand that the 36th IGC retainsthe right to reprint their contribution in any publication.

Authors affirm that their contribution contains no matter that is defamatory or is otherwise unlawful or invades individual privacy, or infringes on any proprietary right or statutory copyright.

Authors affirm that their contribution is their original or that they have obtained permission at their own expense from the copyright holder for publication and will submit documentation, if asked for.

Authors understand that the information contained in their submitted abstract may be shared with third-party processors when required for certain functions (such as graphic design or printing).

Indemnification Agreement

Authors agree to indemnify and hold harmless the 36th IGC, their agents and representatives should the material presented or provided for publication be determined to defame, libel or slander an individual or organization, violate the confidentiality of any individual or organization, or infringe on another's copyright.

The submitting author agrees that the presenting author needs to register as a delegate and pay all applicable fees, if selected for presentation at the 36th International Geological Congress.
